MELBOURNE CLINICS
At Luxe Lips, nose thread lifts are nurse-led and available across our Camberwell, Moonee Ponds and Brighton clinics, with 24/7 aftercare throughout your recovery. One of our AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) registered nurses will assess your nasal anatomy and discuss whether a thread lift suits your goals, or whether a surgical referral may suit you better, during a consultation.
What can nose thread treatment do?
Nose thread lifts are most often considered for shape, projection and contour support. The most commonly treated areas are:
Nasal bridge (dorsum)
A naturally lower or softer bridge along the midline.
Nasal asymmetry
Side-to-side differences in shape or alignment.
Rounded Bridge
A softly-curved bridge you’d like to refine.
Nasal tip projection
A softly-projected or under-projected nasal tip.
Nasal contour
A nose that blends with the surrounding features.
Smile tip
A tip that drops downward during facial movement.

How we approach nose thread lift consultations at Luxe Lips
Every nose thread lift consultation at Luxe Lips follows the same steps, whether you’re here for subtle contour refinement or more significant nasal reshaping. Your nurse will:
Review your medical history and check for contraindications
Assess your nasal anatomy: bridge, tip, contour, projection and symmetry
Discuss whether a PDO thread lift (often the Hiko technique) suits you
Explain what a nose thread lift can and can’t do
Plan your treatment areas, thread type and aftercare
Luxe Lips operates to the standards of the Aesthetic Beauty Industry Council (ABIC), the Aesthetics Practitioners Advisory Network (APAN), and the Cosmetic Nurses Association (CNA).
What to expect from your nose thread lift journey
A nose thread lift journey at Luxe Lips runs in three stages: consultation, treatment, and recovery.
Personalised treatment plan
If you’d like to learn more about personalised treatment options book your consultation now.
Treatment session
Your treatment is carried out by your nurse in a calm, unhurried session. Most appointments run around 90 minutes, number of threads being placed and the areas being treated.
Topical numbing is available if you’d prefer, and your nurse will talk you through each step along the way, so nothing comes as a surprise. Afterwards, they’ll check everything and walk you through your aftercare before you leave.
24/7 real-person aftercare
Some initial swelling and tenderness is normal for the first few days after a nose thread treatment and typically settles within a week. If anything feels unexpected, you can reach a real member of our clinical team any time, day or night.
While unlikely, if you experience any adverse effects, please contact your local clinic so one of our aesthetics team can follow up to ensure maximum safety and satisfaction.
Your nose thread lift lifecycle
How a nose thread lift settles in over time
Everyone’s experience is different, but PDO nose thread lifts tend to follow this pattern:
- Days 1-7: most visible swelling, tenderness and minor bruising in the nasal area tend to settle over this period
- Weeks 1-2: the immediate shape effect becomes more apparent as residual swelling eases
- Months 2-3: the collagen-stimulating effect develops, often supporting a more refined appearance
- Months 6-9: the PDO threads dissolve, while the collagen they stimulated typically remains
- Months 12-18: most people find the supporting effect maintains for around 12 to 18 months, though this varies
Many people choose to return for a maintenance treatment as initial threads dissolve and the supporting effect begins to ease. The right timing for any follow-up is something your nurse will discuss based on how you’re responding and what you’d like to maintain.

Complementary treatment recommendations
Your nose sits within your overall facial balance. If clinically appropriate, your medical professional may discuss supportive treatments such as:
Thread Lifts
The broader thread lift treatment, covering all facial areas.
Facial contouring
Support for jawline, cheek and overall facial balance.
Rejuran
A polynucleotide skin booster supporting skin texture and quality
Every individual has a unique facial anatomy and structure. Your suitability for these treatments will be explored during your consultation, with outcomes varying from person to person.
Your Next Step
Choosing whether a nose thread lift is right for you is personal, and there’s no pressure to go ahead. A consultation gives you a chance to have your nasal anatomy properly assessed, ask whatever’s on your mind, and understand whether non-surgical thread reshaping or a surgical referral may suit you better.
Let’s ANSWER your nose thread lift questions!
How much does a nose thread lift cost?
A nose thread lift is priced at $2,100 for a 90-minute session. Unlike some treatments where cost depends heavily on the number of areas or threads, a nose thread lift is a defined single-area treatment, so the pricing is more straightforward.
That figure covers the session itself. What it doesn’t tell you is whether a nose thread lift is the right approach for your nose in the first place, since that depends on your nasal structure, your goals, and what’s realistically achievable.
Whether this treatment suits what you’re after, and what the result may look like for your profile, is something a medical professional can assess beforehand.
What is the Hiko nose thread lift technique?
The Hiko nose thread lift is a specific technique that uses fine PDO threads placed in particular configurations to support nasal bridge elevation and tip projection. It’s one of the more commonly requested techniques at Luxe Lips because of how precisely the threads can be placed for nose-specific work.
Hiko is a technique, not a thread brand. Most Hiko-style treatments use standard PDO threads applied with specific placement patterns. Your nurse will discuss whether the Hiko technique or a different configuration is most appropriate for your nasal anatomy.
How long does a nose thread lift last?
Most people find the supporting effect of a nose thread lift lasts for around 12 to 18 months, though individual results vary.
Several factors influence longevity, your age, skin elasticity, lifestyle, sun exposure, and how your body responds to the threads. The PDO threads themselves typically dissolve over six to nine months, but the collagen they stimulate during that period often remains for longer.
Your nurse can discuss what’s typical for your situation and whether a future maintenance treatment may be considered.
When will I see results from my nose thread lift?
An initial subtle shape change is usually visible immediately after treatment, though it’s often partly obscured by some swelling that takes a few days to ease.
Once initial swelling settles, typically within one to two weeks, the shape effect becomes more apparent. The collagen-stimulating effect develops gradually over the following two to three months, often supporting a more refined appearance over time.
The final result is best assessed at around three months post-treatment, once both the mechanical lift and the collagen response have had time to settle.
Is a nose thread lift painful?
Nose thread lifts are generally well-tolerated. Local anaesthesia is used throughout the procedure to keep you comfortable during placement.
Sensation in the nasal area varies between patients. Some experience minimal discomfort, others notice tenderness, pressure or sensitivity for several days afterwards. Most people return to their normal routine within a day or two, though some prefer to take it easy for the first 48 hours.
Your nurse will walk through what to expect and provide tailored aftercare guidance.

Who is a good candidate for a nose thread lift?
Nose thread lifts generally suit people with mild to moderate nose shape concerns who would like subtle support without surgical rhinoplasty. They work well for softening a low bridge, refining a slightly droopy tip, or supporting mild asymmetry.
They’re not a substitute for significant nasal change. If you’re considering substantial reshaping, particularly to address breathing concerns, significant deviations, or large dorsal humps, a surgical rhinoplasty referral may be more appropriate.
Suitability is assessed in consultation, and your nurse will be honest about which option suits your situation.
Are there contraindications to a nose thread lift?
Nose thread lifts may not be suitable for everyone. Common contraindications include pregnancy, breastfeeding, active skin infections in the nasal area, certain autoimmune conditions, and medications affecting bleeding or healing.
Recent nasal surgery, recent significant nasal trauma, or untreated structural nasal conditions can also affect suitability. Full contraindication screening is part of every consultation, before any treatment is discussed.
What's the difference between a nose thread lift and rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure performed by a plastic surgeon. It involves incisions, reshaping of underlying cartilage and bone, and produces lasting structural change. Recovery takes weeks to months, and the result is permanent (subject to natural ageing).
A nose thread lift is a minimally invasive procedure that places dissolvable threads beneath the skin to provide subtle structural support. The effect is more modest, temporary (around 12 to 18 months), and doesn’t change underlying nasal cartilage or bone.
Thread lifts may suit people who’d like subtle non-surgical support. Significant nasal changes generally require surgical rhinoplasty.
What are the potential risks and side effects?
Common side effects from a nose thread lift include localised swelling, tenderness, mild bruising, and a feeling of tightness or pressure in the treated area. Most settle within one to two weeks.
Less common risks include thread migration, mild asymmetry, dimpling, infection, or prolonged tenderness. Very rare risks include vascular complications, which are minimised by working with a trained nurse familiar with nasal anatomy.
Your nurse will walk through the full risk profile during your consultation, before treatment is agreed.
