Rather than relying on heat the way traditional lasers do, it delivers energy in ultra-short pulses that target pigment and ink through a photomechanical process, which the body may clear naturally over time.

How PicoSure treatment progresses over time
Most people begin to notice changes to the treated pigmentation within two to four weeks after their first session, as the fragmented pigment continues to clear through the skin’s natural processes. More significant reduction typically becomes visible after the third or fourth session.
Because pigmentation is influenced by ongoing factors such as sun exposure, hormonal shifts and skin barrier function, pigmentation results are not permanent for everyone. Some people may benefit from a maintenance session every six to twelve months, particularly for concerns like melasma or ongoing sun exposure. Tattoo removal is typically a longer series of sessions spaced further apart, worked through until the ink is cleared rather than maintained over time. Your nurse will map out what your specific concern is likely to involve, and what maintenance, if any, may suit you.
Your nurse may also discuss supportive skincare, including topical pigmentation management, barrier support, and skin quality treatments, that pairs with PicoSure to sustain the outcome. These are discussed based on your individual assessment.

How much does PicoSure laser cost?
Packages start at $1,500 and are structured in 3, 6, 9 and 12-session tiers, with the per-session cost dropping as the course lengthens. The number of sessions your concern needs depends on its type, depth and how your skin responds, and is set at consultation. Current package promos are available on our PicoSure laser packages page.
Do you offer payment plans for PicoSure treatment?
Payment plan access applies to Elite Circle members. Joining the Elite Circle is what unlocks the TLC, Zip and Afterpay options at the time of booking.
The plan you choose changes only how the cost is spread, not the treatment or the clinical process behind it. Your options can be confirmed when you book.
Which Luxe Lips clinic offers PicoSure laser?
If Camberwell is not your usual clinic, you can still book PicoSure there directly. A general skin consultation at Brighton or Moonee Ponds can also be arranged, with treatment then carried out at Camberwell if PicoSure is found suitable.
Booking at Camberwell from the outset is the more direct path if you already know PicoSure is the treatment you want to explore.
Do I need a consultation before my first PicoSure treatment?
At the consultation your nurse reviews your skin type, the concern you want treated, your medical history, and whether PicoSure is a suitable match or another approach fits better.
This is also where your session count and package are planned. Treatment is not booked as a first-visit walk-in, because the plan and suitability check have to come first. A $100 deposit holds the consultation and is redeemable against treatment.
How do I prepare for my PicoSure appointment?
Arrive with the area clean and free of makeup where possible. If anything about your skin has changed since your consultation, flag it before the session so the plan can be adjusted. Preparation specifics are confirmed for your skin at consultation.
How do I know if PicoSure is right for my pigmentation?
Not all pigmentation responds the same way, so suitability is decided by the type you have, not pigmentation in general. Sun-related pigment, melasma and post-inflammatory marks each behave differently, and some are better treated by other approaches.
Your skin type also factors in, since it affects how the laser is set. At consultation your nurse identifies your pigmentation type and depth, assesses your skin, and tells you whether PicoSure suits it or whether an alternative is the better match. There is no reliable way to confirm this from the outside, which is why the assessment is done in person before any plan is made.
Can I get PicoSure if I've had other treatments recently?
This is why recent treatments are reviewed at consultation. Your nurse checks what you have had, when, and how your skin responded, then decides whether to proceed or allow a settling period first.
The concern is skin readiness and safe spacing, not the treatments themselves. Bring a list of anything you have had done recently, including at other clinics, so the timing can be assessed accurately.
How soon before an event should I start PicoSure?
There is also a short phase after each session where treated pigment can look darker before it clears, which you would not want surfacing days before an event. For a visible change by a specific date, begin months in advance so the course and clearing have time to work. Your nurse can work back from your event date at consultation and set a realistic schedule.
Can PicoSure remove a tattoo completely?
Some inks respond well and fade substantially or clear; others, particularly certain greens and blues, are more stubborn and may only lighten. Older, faded tattoos often respond more readily than dense, saturated work. Removal also runs over a longer series of sessions than pigmentation treatment. Your nurse assesses your specific tattoo at consultation and gives you a realistic view of what clearance is achievable.
Is PicoSure laser okay for first-timers?
First-time clients often approach PicoSure treatments as a way to address unwanted pigmentation and support improvements in skin texture over time.
